Help for Smart People Who Can't Stop Worrying
No matter how hard you try, you just can’t turn off those intrusive anxious thoughts. Thousands of times a day, you worry about the same stupid things and your friends and family are starting to get sick of it.
They tell you to relax. You think you’re going crazy. Everybody is frustrated.
The problem is that most of the time you know that you shouldn’t be worrying about the things that you worry about. You already know that the chances of the worst case scenario happening are pretty slim and you know that if the worst does happen there is a way to get through it.
Unfortunately, you still worry. You lie awake at night tossing and turning and fretting about things that will seem silly in the morning. You spend your days trying to control the outcome of everything.
Whatever you worry about, it drains you of energy and takes all the joy out of life. Worry keeps you from enjoying what you have and eats up hours and hours of time. It makes it hard to get anything done because you are exhausted and unable to concentrate.
Fortunately, there are many effective strategies for anxiety. You can calm your mind, increase your tolerance for discomfort and challenge those deep, dark thoughts that keep you up at night.
It might feel a little awkward at first but eventually it becomes second nature and you can learn when to use fear to guide you and keep you safe and when to ignore it and press forward with your cool, albeit, scary plans.
Anxiety is such a manageable problem and it really is possible to take your life back from fear. Body Mind Connection and Awareness
When we reflect inwards of ourselves we often find a disconnected picture of what we believe our physical bodies capable off and what we realistically are able to acheive or we find stress, frustration and confusion instead of clarity in our busy unproductive minds.
This is a workshop designed to give you the necessary skills to incorporate stillness in your mind with movement in your body. You will learn how to combine your intentional thoughts and intentional movements resulting in a greater sense of peace and awareness. You will leave this workshop with a greater sense of mindfulness when it comes to everyday movements such as opening and closing doors, getting in and out of bed etc.... as well as utilizing these techniques in your exercise regime.
Instructor: Meagan Saum
Dates: May 14 & 15th, 2011
June 4 & 5th, 2011

Mindful Connection
Mindfulness Meditation is an ancient spiritual practice traditionally taught to purify the mind of unskillful thoughts, attitudes and emotions. More recently mindful awareness, an offshoot of Mindfulness meditation has been successfully applied as a stress management technique. This technique develops moment-to-moment awareness and enhances the ability to live in the present.
To live in the present is to have your mind and your body in the same place at the same time. All to often our thoughts & emotions are disconnected from our physical bodies and body movement. Being present enhances our connection with other individuals, with our environment and our own body awareness.
The Focus Of This Workshop Will Include:
-
Learning the basis of mindfulness & mindful awareness
-
Practicing mindfulness standing meditation, eating meditation, meditation in exercise and walking meditation
-
Exploring daily applications of mindful awareness
-
Integrating mindfulness in cardio, flexibility, and strength exercises
